oh wow. I cant wait till I'm a nurse. mostly because that means I'll be done with the chem, microbiology, anatomy & physiology shit and I'll just convert my earnings into one dollar bills so I can fill the soon-to-be swimming pool in it.

I'm so sorry Ihavent updated for a while. I guess I'll just have to talk about Legend of the Five rings in the next one since I'm too lazy to post about it now.
apparently, my time has been occupied by TV and ... "That 70's show"... which is also TV.
I have stumbled on this anime "This ugly and Beautiful world." It's ugly but yet, it has a pretty boy in it.
he's kinda a mix of Yukito, Soujirou and Kaworu. So... you can basically see what he looks like. Hell, he looks like the freaking template for my kind of... "people".
So. i say adeiu (whatever! you french people) to that anime and hello to another caught bishie.

Ok. I'll repeat the thing again. Remember
this character sheet? Well, now just add the basics so it turns into
this one.
So I'll give char a week to explain some background stuff to you. but just incase, I'll type some stuff here too.
Today's Lesson: Bushido!
Bushido is the code that all samurai's follow. I think shugenja's also follow this code. Bushido is also related to either your insight, honor, or glory. one of them. I dont remember.
1. Courage.
"A samurai is ready to give up his life for his daimyo at any moment."
So... you guys better learn to be selfless. good luck!
2. Loyalty.
Basically if you die for your clan in a good way ("good way"), your lord's going to be very good to your family. you know it kinda pays. it's also an important thign that you have a family. or else... well... you're not really worth anything... ^_^;;;
3. Sincerity.
I said this before, truth doesnt matter, aslong as you APPEAR honest and caring. So, it doesnt matter if your brash but you mean well, or you lie but the truth is, it's your fault. the point is.. .you have to LOOK nice.
4. On (this is a jap word thing that means respectability)
no On means you've been disgraced. so it's kinda of the social points you get to other people. you should act and do and look blah blah blah respectable/ity blah blah.
5. Excellence.
you should be a perfect person. you know how perfectionist those japanese people are. with their freaking hair and food ala Iron Chef. Nuff said
6. Revenge.
Always fight for revenge or avenge something. but not like your dead plant or soemthing. not even a pet. but more like your lord, your lord's family member. or your lords honor. or pwede rin your own. (eg. friend, family)
7. Bragging.
Bragging... is well.. you should be also confident of your skills. think if it as trying to intimidate someone. this also kinda a way of calling out an opponent.
Now unless your character really sucks. dont brag. DUH!
+ Duels. it's kinda an honoroble thing. or something. GAH. how do I explain...
ok. there are different kidns of dueling. accordign to the book. but sometimes, you dont really have to fight a person in a duel.
some times, these two people just stand there and look like idiots. but to the trained eye, their actually dueling... because they're like... analyzing their charkra or soemtihng. and if the other is stronger, be a smart person and let him be.
+ Swords.
Your swords mean everythign to you. usually what's given to you is your ancestor's sword. your grandfathers' grandfather or something really old. but it still works of course. You and your sword... think Viggo Mortenson and His sword during the LOTR shoot. ^_^
I know theres a difference between a katana and a wakizashi. I think the wakizashi was impoitant. it has a more... honorable symbol. Like when your a shugenja, remember that you still carry your wakizashi and not always both swords.

I have finished arranging some songs. Like 4th ave cafe, Magus' Battle, kids run, and farm.
Apparently, I'm having diffucilty in arranging Ky's theme from guity gears. and god knows I'll be better than him if I ever succeed in finishing Kys theme as Metallica' s "Call of Kthulu" (which is, honestly, my only favorite song from them)
But go me!! A few more to go. I feel kidna guilty since the ones I've fixed are mostly my songs. ^_^; but hell.

after the mythology of it all there are other factors to consider about your typical rokugani. first, let us go to the ...social... heirachy.
->the highest is
the emperor and he's a loner since he's the only one there.

farmers, peasants = by the way, people of our standards and above can treat them like shite since it's kinda... part of the normal behavior. you look down on the peasants and you automatically kill them if they insult your honor. aside from that, you need other excuses since they farm the food you eat and are your servants.

the eta who are the people that touch the dead things/people. geishas and etc... the thing is, you can kill them anytime you want and no one will care. unless some samurai's favorite geisha or something.
Now remember, you are serving your lord and you will do whatever it takes to bring honor to your clan. Even if
you lose an arm trying to.
Scars and Missing limbs might occur in the game. Meaning, you're character might encounter a little... problem. but remember, the game is like a story. So the character has to evolve, in one way or another. Dont worry, you still get the EXP and the increase in rank/traits.
I hope all of those who are willing to play are ready to face some sacrifice. Remember char?

aurora: OK this is it. justread the mythology and the bushido part. Advantages and dis advantages, the colored paper for the clans. you dont have to read all the technicalities because we didnt ^_^; so basically understand what your characters going to be and how you can role play that. I'll explain later
oo. I dont know about it being scanlated but they do sell it here. I could buy some for you if you want. but you'll get it after 6 months ^_^; interesting though. I thought it was pretty cheezy but I'll give it a shot. hehehe.

Legend of the Five Rings:
For those who want to refresh their memory and for those who are new to the game heres the Rokugan world's Mythology in a nutshell.
Amaterasu and Onnotangu had 9 children. Onnotangu (the moon aka. daddy) ate the children one by one and mommy didnt like it. so After he ate all the children except one, being Hantei, daddy fell asleep.
So mommy taught hantei how to fight daddy so he can free his bros and sis. and when daddy woke up. they fought, and hantei sliced open his daddys big belly and his brothers and sisters fell out and fell into the earth. One of the kids, fu leng, grabed hold of hantei and dragged him down with them.
So nine of them were fell into the earth and for mythology's sake, one got sepereated and went underground to become... L5R's version of Sauron.
So there were 8 kids left that were half god and half men (half men because they are not in heaven anymore). So they decided one should be the leader. so they fought each other and it was decided that Hantei became their emperor and the other brothers and sisters got some humans that were wandering around and formed clans.
Lord Hida = Crab
Lady Doji = crane
Lord Togashi = Dragon
Lord Akodo = Lion
Lord Shiba = Phoenix
Lord Bayushi = Scorpion
Lady Shinjo = Unicorn
So there are only two girls. =_=

if you're a newbie, read
page 22-40 of the book to understand
rokugani culture. it's very strict japanese-esque culture. just to get a concept or idea how your character should act and how they should treat other people.
since l5R is essencially more of a storytelling game then a hack-and-slash one.
pp62-93 is my personal favorite.
Character creation. Skills, advantages and disadvantages and everything. it also has the colored pages featuring each clan per spread.
So whoevers playing, please state your clan and wether if your the basic bushi or shugenja. or magistrate or anything else. that's all I want. nothign complicated. just your clan and profession. you dont have to make a character past now because the idea, or a better idea, will come to you eventually.

Legend of the Five Rings:
Some rules in rokugan to think of:
for one thing, a peasant cant become a bushi. They can become a true ronin (lordless bushi) but they cant be a bushi, unless they did something totally glorious or something.
but usually they just stick around and watch the clans fight each other because they have their own problems.
heres a cool quote from a ronin that might make you consider this class: "You call me a masterless man. you are wrong. I am my own master."
Bushis are samurai, DUH. They stick close to the orders of their Daimyo (Lord) and their clan. Since they provide you everythign you need. Koku (the world's version of money. one koku is equivalent to one year's worth of rice.), clothing, weapons, documents and etc. So you cant really do anythign against them since they kinda have a hold of your balls-- or in my case, manga collection.
The clan that knows true loyalty is the Scorpion. Though they are backstabbers and tricksters, they are heavily faithful, loyal to their clan. and I have an uber crush on Kachiko.
Anyway. I was going to post some characters in anime and relate them to a clan. I can only think of some but pretty soon, I'll add some more. but I hope it will give you an idea of the clan people.
Oh yes, there are also minor clans (eg. mantis, wasp) but no one gives a shite about them and they're pretty weak. so yea.

Moonlit Shadow
It's very Cowboy Beboy-esque and it feels like they ripped Yoko Kanno off in some way. (mostly because she was the onyl person who ever composed something in this genre) Please check out the site, listen to some samples and look at the flash video because you get to see Mitsuda's good looking side with Miki Higashino (composer of Suikoden II)
But good god, you can feel a piece of Mitsuda there, compara sa earlier CD niya.
As for Xenosaga II by Yuki Kajura, It's.. very different from mitsuda's style. but I cant blame her, because Mitsuda did a crappy job at Xenosaga I (save 5 tracks in the second disc, damn they're gorgeous).
Xenosaga II sounds orchestraic, dramatic but it seems to not connect with Xenogears. Xenosaga II also has some tracks from Xenosaga I, though I dont know if she redid some of the songs.
Hell, I & II seem to have no connection with Xenogears. they made it less "holy." I cant describe it but xenogears and the music had this sort of "revelation" thing going on with the world and story.
I havent played Xenosaga myself and I might be a horrible judge but hell, I dont feel the "love" in it all.

you dont have to fully memorize the book or anything. I mean, me and char and kath still dont really get the full mechanics. just understand your character, your character sheet, and what "3k2" means. and you'll pick up some stuff on the way. so yey. ^_^

Legend of the Five Rings:
This is really important: we're playing
1st edition. This is (sadly) an out of print book and theres actually a 3rd edition coming out. we choose 1st edition because this had the setting before the big battle in rokugan happened. so that means, I dont have to continuously update myself with what's happening. whee!!
that and me and char and kath are used to 1st edition.
my little explanation thingys are not really exact but its the closest thign to it and it's the way I understand it.
Setting
it's a ancient japanese-esque mythology setting. Rokugan, the world, is where the thing takes place. his has the honor system going on where you have to act all noble and polite when you talk to people because each character represents his/her clan (in a way) when they go about and shite.
I remember there are glory points and honor points. that thing has a link to your characters reputation and so on and so fourth.
and really I'm just rushing my explanations. but if you'd like to get an idea, think if rurouni kenshin without the western influences.
but there are the things that everyone in rokugan is against, Shadowlands creatures.
basically there was this dude named fu leng (my memory is rusty) and basically he's a very very naughty person. ^_^;; and he lives (does he?) in the shadowlands which on the other side of THE WALL which is protected by the crab clan.
ahem but point is, shadowlands = bad. taint from shadowlands = bad. and jade is to shadowlands as holy water is to vampires. ^_^
Classes
the main classes are:
Shugenja which is equivalent to a sorcerer.
Bushi is to fighter or warrior.
there are other classes besides the two basic ones such as: courtiers, magistrates, scout and etc etc. the specifics I dont really know about but if you're interested in the others, ask aurora's brother since... I dont know. ^_^;
Clans
ahh my favorite part.
Dragons
The monk-like clan who are stereotyped as silent, mysterious and more of a less aggressive nature. (I think)
oh yes. you always have to wear your clan color. Dragon's Green with a gold accent. and I'll have a feeling that one of you will just pick a clan because it matches their wardrobe. hehehe. =_=
well, char's a dragon. if you have any questions about that clan, ask her or something as productive. becuase I dont know about checking online since they kinda moved on with the story. Like in the current arc, there the mantis clan and the scorpions were supposed to be gone or something.
Cranes
The rich, elitist clan. they're really close to the emperor and they have the "best duelists." They're stereotyped as girly/girly men who are mostly superficial (because they're usually pretty since they get a discount when you get "-something- beauty" as an advntage) and are rich (and erika had a lot of money hehehehe)
oh also they have most of the artist population in the society. meaning, poets and painters and stuff. it's all them. because they're pretty and rich enough to care. >_>
they're clan colors are blue with white/silver accent
Scorpion it's usually scorpions vs. cranes when it comes to the politics in the court room.
they are usually the thieving, kniving back-stabbing character in the mix. they should never be trusted. they always have an ulterior motive. which is somethings that's hard to roleplay because you always have to think of a strategy to fool your companions or something.
they used to be my favorite clan though. ^_^; I mean, I used to have a scorpion character but then I killed her off. actually I usually dont recommend anyone playing a scorpion unless you wanted to give extra effort. so yea. and it's in-character for other clans not to trust a scorpion character. but whatever since kath's... harmless. ^_^. a new breed of scorpion, yes?
but seriously, I'm against to people role playing a scorpion of they cant role play it.
oh yes. kath's a scorpion so ask her.
ahem. scorpion colors are red and black and they always wore a mask, it's a sign that they cannot be trusted.
Lion
They are to bravery as to cellphones is to electronic(?) I dont know. but some where around there. the lion clan is the army of the emperor. they are usually prideful and arrogant but they are the "underdog" of all the clans. they are also brave and maybe stereotyped as stupid. I think they're the ones who get extra glory points. and like I said before, glory points = reputation and etc...
I dont really know much about the lion because... well.. they're not interesting ^_^; but Jloh played a lion. so you can ask him.
Unicorn
the unicorn clan were either banished or they went on a journey through the dessert for a while. and when they came back (like... years later) they're now alienated by the rest of the clans because they're westernized. oh yes. they also ate meat, which was what the other clans found gross and unclean.
so in essence, rokugan is full of vegans. >_> ew.
They know some western stuff, I dont really know what western stuff specifically but I remember when I was reading a scorpion book, Lady Kachiko got a present from the Unicorn clan that they've never seen before. it's a scissor. yes. a scissor. and she found it "wow" ish.
anyway, they specialize with their horses because I think they really saw unicorns and had bred their horses with the unicorns so, the unicorn clan's horses are the finest and best horses there are in rokugan. so that's where the emperor he's his horsies. ^_^
so horses = archery. because you get to do that neat trick of using your arrows while riding a horse without any penalties I think. think princess mononoke(?). colors are purple with silver accent.
Crab
well, I think they're the only people who have respect for the unicorn because they dont care about the "difference". as long as one does his/her job, (and does it well) that's it.
the crab is stereotyped as the big, dumb strong person whom everyone's scared of. yes. the bully. but hey, you got to give them credit because they guard the wall.
the crabs basically a simple minded folk. well, generally. they really do not care about court politics or dueling or anything like that.
I'm a crab. so yey! oh yes, colors are blue and black.
Phoenix
Mostly specialize in shugenjas. they are really REALLY good in magic and they're generally pacifist people.
that's all I know... colors are red with yellow/orange.

now while this clarifies some things with your concept from your characters, you might want to watch a couple of movies before you read it, or go to your favorite book or soemthing to get some concepts that you like that you can mesh together.
things that are required: a japanese name. the last name will be provided for you depends on the clan.
about weapons, people usually use a daisho (katana +wakizashi). basta, carry a wakizashi, it's a sign of ... something honorable. even a shigenja carries a wakizashi.
oh yes, bushi's wear armor. unless you want to die faster. shugenja's dont wear armor, unless you're a crab shugenja.
man... I"m having fun re-explaining this arent I? Well, this is my favorite game. and I did totally smite ass in the DnD one. ^_^ WOOT!

Me and jobert were talking about L5R and my enthusiast to play it when we visit.
but the thing is, I dont know who's playing. who WANTs to play. Erika? Greta? Aurora? Jopie? Alyssa?
I know me and char love it and want to play the 1st ed. because joberts a nice soul and elvin sucks for ruining my cheezed Kyanji--- who totally kicked ass by the way.
and it really made me miss kyanji and how much I enjoyed her more than Kaiko. I love kaiko, trust me but lets say that if the guy who made l5r see us play, he'd kill the scorpion players.
plus, crab clan ROCKS@!!!! I feel more free to just kick ass and not be pressured to play trickery and backstabbing since I'm catholic. XP
